Appcelerator Titanium

Today as more and more consumers are using smartphones, there is certainly high demand for app developers. Apps are small programs that can be installed on common smartphones such as iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.

Traditional in order to build apps for these devices you had to be able to create your code from scratch. Building an app that would run on the three main platforms (Android, iOS and BlackBerry) typicaly ment creating a sepetrate codebase for each version.

Appcelerator Titanium studio bridges this gap by allowing the developer to build one app that will work cross platform. By using Titanium you can create your app and then focus on the smaller details per platform prior to finishing your project.

Titanium works almost like a wrapper for your application. Because of this your app will not be fully native, but you will still have access to many core features. IOS support currently appears to be more favourable but Android is catching up, and soon the developer will be able to unleash a lot more potentially from both Android and iOS.

BlackBerry support is still somewhat limited, but again this will improve.

There are pros and cons for all of these web based html5 mobile development toolkits, but if you want to get your feet wet and try your hand at mobile application development then Appcelerator Titanium studio might be just what you need to get you started.

Happy coding.

Mack.
